Paupergeddon Roma 2024 main event has shown us a fair share of various decks, even though there’s a clear advantage and predominance of artifact lands based strategies.
The meta spread between Day1 and Day2 doesn’t change, which means the metagame is stable around the Top Tier archetypes.
The lack of blue based counterspell decks can be considered worrisome if we see the format blue-centered; for sure Pauper had a long “love story” with those kind of decks and this is the second time in it’s history without any relevant cantrip style deck (the first one whit Commander Leggends and Walls Cascade, but despite this deck, Dimir Faeries was still relevant enough).
Regarding the Day1-Day2 conversione, the most notable ones are Wildfire Glee, Gardens, and Combo Glee. To be clear: Wildfire Glee is the Glee list more focused on “grinding-out” the opponents with cards like Krark-Clan Shaman or the “combo” Cleansing Wildfire into Whryting Chrysalis, while Glee Combo is the more straightforward version. Glee Combo sometimes plays the Chrysalis aswell, but doesn’t have other controll-ish cards beside this one.
This data tell us that these 3 decks were the most resonable choices for the event, at least percentage-wise.
The team trio event was held on the Friday before the main event, reaching the considerable amount of 48 teams playing in the tournament.
Decks like Kuldotha Red and Mono Blue Terror are often one of the most shared decks between team choice due to the lack of high powered cards like Deadly Dispute, which force players to skip on decks like Glee (both versions) or Affinity, which are just the most predominant archetypes featuring one of the most powerful card in the recent years.
